Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This Privacy Policy explains how ChatGPT for Gmail (the “Extension”) processes information when you use it inside Gmail. This policy is provided by the ChatGPT for Gmail Team.

Summary

Information We Process

Email content

When you use features like Summary, AI Reply, or Translate, the Extension reads the email content on the page and sends it to the AI service to produce an output.

Account email (for plan checks)

You can enter your email address in Settings. The proxy service may use this address to check subscription status and enforce usage limits.

Local cache

The Extension stores the latest generated summaries and replies in local browser storage so you can switch between versions (history). This data stays on your device.

Operational logs

The proxy service may record minimal operational metadata (such as request time, status, model used, and rate-limit counters) to operate the service and prevent abuse.

How We Use Information

Data Retention

Generated summaries and replies are stored only in your local browser extension cache. Clearing the cache removes them. The proxy service does not store your email content as application data.

Third-Party Services

The Extension uses third-party AI model providers via an OpenAI-compatible API. Your email content is sent to the model to generate outputs. You should use the Extension only if you understand and accept this behavior.
